AD 2010

So how'd it go? The general impression I get from various FB posts is that it was a little crazy at times, not always in a good way, but that sounds about par for the course. I'm fishing for comments here, obviously.

There were a lot of serious meltdowns on the back end, moreso than usual, but from front of house, I've heard nothing but positive feedback from the attendees so far.

Under other circumstances I'd say "Well, that's the important thing!", but as a devotee of the greasy organizational stuff, the first part has me worried. Hope you guys can iron out the bugs for next year, b/c meltdowns suck.

Well, nothing so serious that we can't deal with it, so don't be worried too much. New hotel, new learning experience. Plans are already in process to make things work and work well next year on both the back and front ends.

Video went pretty smoothly for the most part. A couple of glitches with some newer sub-only dvds not bringing up the subtitles. We could fix that via the remote though. One old title also had problems with it's subtitles as well (guess I need to buy the newer release of Bubblegum Crisis). We managed to fix some problems from last year. We put the rear speakers up on chairs and put up "Do not sit on chair" signs. That worked well, no speakers became accidentally unplugged from being bumped. We also fixed our biggest problem of people starting up the dvd players again after the disc has finished. Aaron and I have started going through and getting exact run-times from the dvds themselves since the runtimes on the box and online are usually innacurate. We were able to figure out the exact times the discs would stop and send someone down immediately to retrieve the disc. We are going to go through the entire Detour library and our presonal libraries during the off-season and get exact run-times for everything.

Thank you! I certainly hope the times are less interesting this year, at least on a personal level.

Happy birthday, and I hope your next year is less "interesting" than this one!

The position with the election board is temporary, through the end of the election, and working for Block is seasonal as well. I am semi-retired on disability, so employment security is not a major…

It seems to me those are governmental jobs you are doing part time. If you can have one of those, you ought to have better employment security.
