Off and running

After various bureaucratic misadventures the VA turned me loose with a bag of antibiotics this afternoon, and fortunately P was there to help me shift things in her pickup truck. She also treated me to a belated (and low-carb!) birthday dinner at Malibu in Fairfax while we were waiting for huladavid to get back from marching & protesting.

I'm going to be laying low this week, continuing the cleaning of the apartment and tending to other errands while trying to remain horizontal as much as possible. I have fourteen days' worth of Clindamycin, and intend to give it every opportunity to smack down whatever evil germ -or germs- is making my leg miserable.

yay to low-carb!

bacon is almost always comes to my rescue - its on
the diet baby - and SO satisfying.

I can even show you the way to make it so that there
is no bacon grease spatter etc, but no, I can not show
you a way to make it in a microwave that is in any way
satisfying - the crunch and crisp is a huge part of the
bacon satisfaction factor....

Well...I need to watch the fats, too, so I should probably watch it with the bacon. Agreed that doing bacon in the microwave just ain't right, though.

Hooray to low carb and diet, yes.

Much infliction of meat and vegetables on the Wombat diet. Fortunately, it's squash season...

Mmmm, squash. God knows where the notion of putting brown sugar on squash came from; that's just overkill.
