The fandom meme

Ganked from revolutionaryjo, who is far more into the media than I am...

Your main fandom of the year?
Hm. I went to three anime conventions (Katsucon, Detour and Anime USA) and only one SF con (Balticon) but on the other hand I read a lot more SF than I did anything else, except possibly internet spaceships. So I guess I'm still an old-school SF fan .

Your favorite film watched this year?
The Boondock Saints, with the Spanish dub of Alien Resurrection getting an honorable mention.

Your favorite book read this year?
S.M. Stirling's A Meeting At Corvallis, the final book in the trilogy that starts with Dies The Fire. Hands down.

Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
According to Winamp, it's "Virtual Star Embryology (TV size)", from the Internal Clock, Municipal Orrery Utena soundtrack CD, but I think it's Peter Gabriel's "Steam" or Adrian Belew's "I Am What I Am".

Your favorite TV show of the year?
I don't watch TV any more, sorry.

Your favorite LJ community of the year?
catholicism, I guess. None of the other ones I belong to are that active.

Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
S.M. Stirling's Dies The Fire and its sequels. These books are made of win, slaughter, clever plots, excellent characters, and awesome.

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
Pretty local...a bunch of old friends of mine were going to start getting together for gaming, but it didn't happen. :(

Your TV boyfriend of the year?
Baaah. Wombat straight. Also, does not watch TV.

Your TV girlfriend of the year?
Rachael Ray, because she makes all the foodies I know cringe, because she was unpretentious enough to do the Dunkin' Donuts ads, and because I would hit her like Skylab falling from orbit. Can I get a "Hell yeah!"?

Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Please. Wombats do not squee. However, I was quite excited by the news that Charles Stross will be GoH at Balticon this year.

The most missed of your old fandoms?
Space: Above and Beyond. I'm afraid it's pretty much dead - I very rarely see a post on the mailing list any more, and I can't remember the last time I actually looked at one of the websites in the S:AAB ring.

The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
I dunno about the fandom, but I sure would like to see House and the new Battlestar Galactica.

Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
Charles Stross at Balticon, seeing eclectic_scoop, jamestrainor, stuckintraffik and the rest of the gang at Detour, and getting a copy of John Ringo's Honor of the Clan.
