Meanwhile, over in the stacks...

Honestly, it's not all death and morbidity tonight in the Burrow. Stopped at the library after work to pick up my reserved copy of S.M. Stirling's The Scourge of God (which means Martin van Creveld's solid but unexciting The Culture of War goes on the back burner next to the Nuge and Chuck Norris) along with Norah Vincent's Self-Made Man, Hemingway's Death in the Afternoon, and Iain Banks' Inversions.

Still dealing with the tag ends of this cold/respiratory infection/plague; emptied out the change mug this morning to invest in more generic DayQuils.

Self made man was good. Unusual perspective - Norah acting as a drag-king. Have to admit I didn't know what a drag-king was till I read the book, but the meaning is somewhat obvious from the the words.

I thought the best part was then she was dressed as a man in a biker strip bar and some burly dude took a chair that her friend had been sitting in ( he had gone to the bathroom). When she protested the burly dude acted like he was ready to fight - something Norah had never really had to deal with when in the same situation as a woman.

I cant remember if you have netflix. They are getting lots of watch instantly content now and I have been viewing Last Exile ( anime ) and it is pretty good. Good story - awesome eye candy.

Are you going to Detour 2009?

No, don't have Netflix but have heard good things about Last Exile.

Right now I'm planning on being in St. Paul for AD 2009, but we'll see if the health and the cash flow hold up.
