Some things never change

Especially when they're dipshit movie reviewers. Richard Corliss at Time hasn't understood the movie-going public for thirty years, and his review of 300 is more proof of this. I will give him credit, though: he manages to hold off on the stupid Iraq War analogies until halfway through the review.

Unfortunately, some things do change. Dunkin' Donuts is all the rage in the Northeast with its wide variety of doughnuts and other breakfast pastries, to say nothing of its coffee, but the new owners want to take it national again - against Starbucks. Dubious.

It's odd that he devotes so much time to homoeroticism without ever mentioning its historical antecedents. I wonder what he'd have made of the Sacred Band of Thebes?

No doubt he would have praised them for their modern, contemporary ways and completely glossed over the fact that they were slaveholders just like the rest of the Greeks.

Zack Snyder did a Q&A after we saw 300 back in December at the film festival where he talked about a premiere -- One reporter told him that he got what he was saying, with King Leonidas standing in for George W. Bush. The very next reporter told him that he got what he was saying, with Xerxes standing in for George W. Bush.

Geniuses!

I don't know whether the journalism business attracts more retards than the average profession or whether they secretly lobotomize these people in J-school. Either way, I try to avoid paying any attention to movie critics these days. They almost never like what I like, with the exception of Joe Bob .

I love Joe Bob Briggs!

I think that Roger Ebert is the best all-around movie reviewer ever (check out the commentary tracks he does for Citizen Kane and Dark City, and trying to watch "Ebert & Roeper" with nothing but guest hosts is an exercise in futility.

Ebert has half a brain, granted. Now, if we could deflate his ego into something small enough to actually fit into his head, he might be 10% as good as Joe Bob.

Dunkin' Donuts coffee beans??!! I think someone must've flunked Brand Management 101.

To the average American, Dunkin' Donuts = donuts. Push the donut concept, guys.

Mmmm, doughnuts. I think the industry's problems all started when they took the dough out and replaced it with do. It's just not the same. :(
