Instapundit brought up the subject yesterday, and returns to it today, linking to this post by Austin Bay which is somewhat more detailed WRT the mechanics of bringing the Guard and Reserve out of the repeated callup mode and into an extended deployment mode, which is not as simple as it sounds. There's also some useful food for thought in this Victor Davis Hanson post, as well as in the comments - I thought the observation about expanding the force by increasing the TO&E strength and then recruiting up to it was a good one - it would increase the boots on the ground and the planes in the air without adding to the command, staff and support elements so much. More teeth and not so much tail, so to speak.
Time to shower, eat lunch, and get a haircut. I'm feeling a lot better than yesterday and may even attempt to be social, but we'll see how that goes.
