The friends of wombat-socho

1. Copy and paste your LJ Friends List into an update and leave behind an LJ Cut.
2. If you've met them in person or otherwise know them from the offline world, bold their screen-name. If you've only talked to them on the phone, italicize their name. If you've only talked to them online, leave their name alone. If you have someone on your Friends List who has multiple LJ's, only use one and get rid of the rest from the list. If you met them in person first, underline their name.
3. Post and let other people copy the meme.
If I screwed up somewhere let me know and I'll fix it.

I think a big part of the reason why I have so few "internet-only" friends is because I tend to meet people first and then get interested in their LJs, as opposed to getting involved with people through LJ and then meeting them in real life. For I am old, and rather traditional in a lot of ways...

The Joys of Social Network analysis...

Indeed. Sometime I'd like to get some appropriate software and start exploring peoples' f-lists to find people I don't have on mine - but perhaps should have.

I don't have the link handy but there's this thing called the LJ MindMap that does something like that. If you Google, you will find it I suspect...

I've got one of those...and should probably kick in the donation to get the colors & links and stuff, since a lot of the discussion about the MindMap seems to assume that the colored linky version is the one being used.

I don't mind having online only friends. You guys suppliment/compliment my offline friends. Usually the further apart geopgraphically, the harder it is to hook up. I only have 2 online friends I've met in person. One is from Rome,NY. I met him at a film festival in Syracuse. The other lives in Japan, but was travelling into my area. Go figure. If we should get the opportunity to meet in person, great, if not I still enjoy your online personality.

Just wondering, did you find yourself intensely disliking an online friend once you met them in person? A yes or no answer will suffice, (no details required).

No, but I have had the opposite happen - dropped someone I know from my f-list because their online personality really got up my nose. I'm sure the scenario you describe will happen eventually, but I can wait. :)
