The Thursday morning report

Bookshelves assembled last night: 0
Progress made on novel: None
WW points blown at dinner: 30 (v. bad)
Time wasted reading Fandom Wank: 3 hours (v.v. bad)

OMFG. I haven't laughed so hard for so long in ages. Some fans are COMPLETELY BATSHIT INSANE, and F_W mocks them to within an inch of their lives.

Unsurprisingly, the fandoms mocked most often and to the greatest extent seem to be LOTR and HP, the latter of which seems to be inhabited by an excessive number of people who think the author has no idea what she is doing and therefore should leave the series in the capable hands of the fans, who will see to it that Harry x Draco (in the mandatory leather pants) forever while Snape rules all as Supreme God of Sex and Destroyer of Bears, as is right and just because Alan Rickman is hot. I tell you, some of these people are completely unmoored from reality. Don't even ask me about the squid. *shudders*

Now we know why American students' academic achievements suck. They're all writing horrible, horrible HP slash instead of doing their damn homework. Actually, it's possible that they're writing HP slash as homework, after which they go to college and learn to whine about how The Man is Keeping Them Down and suppressing all the femslash.

I think I'll just concentrate on my work for a while and try to recover my lost Sanity points. The many-angled ones that serve the Elder Gods have nothing on these kids when it comes to warping reality, let me tell you.

What, no FMA up there on F_W? I'm surprised, for a while that fandom was having a healthy rivalry with the HP fans for who could have the most wank...

F_W seems to concentrate mostly on fanfic slash and related silliness, as far as I can tell. That's enough wank for decades right there. I'm sure as the number of people doing FMA slash increases, Sturgeon's Law will kick in and we'll see the same kind of idiots who get targeted by F_W appearing in FMA fandom.

Actually, the FMA fandom has been up there before, in the past it was actually on a fairly regular basis. To the point that one fan community started putting a tag at the end of posts saying "x days no on fandom_wank!" to keep track of how long they'd gone without wank.

The FMA fandom comes up with some pretty special wank, too. There was one quite (in)famous one on fm_alchemist, that was entirely people arguing over what color Roy's eyes are...

I'll take your word for it. Most of the stuff I saw on there when I was introduced to it the other night seemed to revolve around various TV fandoms (about which I know nothing since I don't hardly watch TV any more), and then I got to digging around in their wiki. ZOMG, the drama and the snark!
