"Waste of time, ferramente."

I think trying to prove any era's music was better than any other's, which seems to be the point of this Ann Althouse post, is pretty much in line with the quote from Drake & Stirling's The Hammer I'm using for a post title. Music tastes are too subjective to be able to make a call like that. Maybe the Creator of Worlds thinks the pop music of the 50s and 60s is better than anything that came before or after (certainly Prof. Althouse would agree) but personally I think it pales in complexity and technological artistry beside the big-band swing sounds of the 30s and 40s, and completely lacks the gritty, blues-rock realism of the Stones and the Who, to say nothing of the punk bands that came later. Don't even get me started on the electronic music that wasn't even technologically possible fifty years ago.

Made fairly good progress on the weight last week, dropping close to two pounds. I'm going to try and watch what I eat over the weekend, and it actually won't be all that hard since I won't have a lot of time where I'm sitting around being bored and hungry. I expect I'll either be working, on a panel, helping with the room party, asleep, or in transit between the apartment and the hotel. Coupling that schedule with the amount of walking to be done in the course of getting from point A to point B in the Sheraton past thousands of other fans may even cause a weight drop, but I'll be happy just to stay even. We'll see what happens.

Today I'm feeling pretty drained. I got enough sleep last night, even after making the mistake of dosing myself with Tylenol-3 when the pain in my foot became Too Much, but I think the combination of Cozaar and steroid cream is taking its toll on my middle-aged body. It makes me wonder whether I'll actually be able to follow through on the commitments I've made for this weekend...right now I'm thinking about going home, checking the mail, maybe nuking something for dinner, then getting & staying horizontal. Another early bedtime, this time with regular Tylenol.
