Good night, sweet prince

RIP Roy Scheider.
Oddly enough, I never saw him in Jaws; I remember him for his roles in obscure flicks like Blue Thunder, Marathon Man, and the extremely creepy Last Embrace, which I think was the first movie I actually saw him in.

I fail at protesting. :3

Well, I headed for the DC Raid on Co$ today, but I was late and got there after all the excitement had passed. I did get some good pix, which I'll post tomorrow once I figure out whether I want to screw around with the galleries on LJ (which suck) or stick them on my personal Geocities site, or start keeping them on Flickr or Picasa or something. Good turnout, ~100+ folks, a cake table in memory of Lisa McPherson, and badly spooked Co$ handlers. We're going to do it again in March, too.

Unlike other friends of Anonymous, though, I'm not hiding my face. What's the Co$ going to do, sue me? I'm broke already. Smear my reputation? I ran an anime convention, FFS. I have no reputation to speak of, and most of my friends think the Co$ is shit anyway. So I'll be writing some letters, causing chaos, rocking like Amadeus, and bringing the pain. Once upon a time, I held up my hand and swore to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and I don't recall any fine print about the oath expiring when I took off the uniform. Since I'm too fat and sick to take on the foreigners, I think I'll get in a few licks at the Scientologists. Besides, any harassment they direct my way will be problems not inflicted on somebody younger/less able to deal with it.

Game on, bitches.

UPDATE: INTERNATIONAL EPIC WIN. Photos and video of raids around the world. HAIL XENU!

I didn't plan on going to the gun show or joining the NRA Saturday, but both things happened. What the heck - for $25, I got a pretty decent hat that actually fit, a free ticket into the gun show (cash value $12) , and a subscription to America's 1st Amendment (yeah, just what I need, more paper to throw out) so what the heck. I did see several potential holsters for Masha, some pretty cool art that was way out of my price range, and more ammo than I could fire off in a year. I bought none of it.

Anyhow, I did dinner with P and RS at Moby's in Ashburn and then headed home, where I found that Rent.com had finally sent me my reward. I spent some of it at Borders on Frank Zappa's Strictly Commercial and Neil Young's Re*ac*tor, which I'd been wanting on account of the anthemic "Opera Star", which has nothing in common with the Cake tune "Opera Singer". I also picked up Who's Next and The Definitive Steely Dan, which doesn't have everything I want but does have most of the tunes I do like.

My leg got to hurting quite a bit, so I spent most of the afternoon & evening lying around rereading The Fall of Reach and watching V for Vendetta, which is full of win and awesome. Someday I'm going to have to read the graphic novel so I'll understand how full of suck and fail the movie is. ;)
Anyhow, hopefully all this pain means that the hole in my leg is getting smaller/healing up; we'll find out when I see the podiatrist this week. And now to bed.
