Boss Coffee

Slave to the grind

Another largely uninteresting day, full of work and not much else. Tonight will be full of similar excitement: dish washing, bread baking, and some shuffling of registration paperwork in preparation for Thursday's meeting. At least the weather has improved somewhat, though I think it says volumes about the suckitude of Minnesota winters that we consider a day when the high is 17 degrees as somethng to celebrate. (Mainly because for the previous week it never got above zero, and that's Fahrenheit.)

My life may be dull, but I think I'm happier with it than this kind of life. Anna Nicole Smith wasn't on my radar screen much; her debut happened when I was still happily married and not looking around much, and I've never been much for drooling over centerfolds anyway. Cosh is much more sympathetic to this sad woman's arc of epic fail than, say, Cathy Seipp, but Seipp has never had a lot of sympathy for people who never bothered to develop anything but their looks.

SUUUUUURGE!

Mookie bugs out for Teheran.. So much for former Daddy DIRNSA's prediction that the surge would be nothing but epic fail. Guess the situation looked a little different from the boss Sadrist's point of view, eh General? It's not over 'til it's over, but it sure looks like the surge is having a very positive effect already. With any luck the lads and lasses in the Sandbox will have this thing wrapped up before those posturing fools in Congress get their do-nothing resolution voted on.

Cobb has a beatdown of the former spook's essay, but he was going with a nuts-and-bolts critique that demonstrated Odom's appalling ignorance regarding what our NATO "allies" in Europe were willing to do to help achieve peace in Iraq*.

EDIT: Added "NATO" before "'allies'" in the second para so as not to dis Poland, Romania, and other New European members of the posse. Good catch, qob.

*Apart from Britain, Australia, Korea and Denmark, that would be jack and shit over the long term. Spain couldn't even be arsed to leave their Foreign Legion there, and what's more expendable than a Foreign Legion, by definition? We've actually gotten more help from the former Warsaw Pact nations and former Soviet republics than we have from NATO. Go figure.
