Thanksgiving

Looks like we lucked out and drew one last nice day for Thanksgiving - it's 54 degrees out there right now, the sun is shining, and you can see for miles. P and I are heading out to Mystic Lake for Thanksgiving - we both have decent kitchens and most of the raw materials for the traditional dinner, but tables and chairs are lacking. So we'll let the casino buffet do the cooking, since they do such an awesome job.

There's a lot to be thankful for today, but so much of it is summed up in the song "Living In The U.S.A." - don't care whether it's the James Brown or the Linda Ronstadt version, frankly. I'm not where I want to be in my life, but I'm getting closer every day.

Have a happy Thanksgiving, everyone. Take a few minutes to remember how this all started, sometime between the food and the football, and give thanks.

So P and I headed out to Mystic Lake about 3-ish, got into the ginormous line, moved through it for about an hour, and then pitched into the food. Actually, after about an hour in line she had to check the plumbing and I needed to sit down because the sciatica in my left leg was bothering me, as it does whenever I stand up for an extended period. Human frailties aside, the buffet was worth waiting for. There were ample supplies of well-prepared traditional Thanksgiving fare plus the usual prime rib and ethnic food besides, and of course the dessert table was laden with all manner of caloricious goodies.

Next year I expect I'll be eating Thanksgiving dinner in a different time zone completely, God and the Virginia Department of Education willing.
