Staring at the telephone

Did I say fourth place? I really meant seventh! OMFG, that was a bad night. I'm just glad I don't have cable, otherwise I surely would have broken the TV out of frustration. First my man Mike O'Connor gets eaten alive by the Fish, coughing up five earned runs in one horrible inning, and then the Royals (WTF? The Royals?!?) hammer Bradke for eleven hits in five innings, though mercifully they only managed to score three runs off him.

So I'm back in seventh place, firmly at the bottom of the league in ERA and WHIP. Maybe Tim Wakefield will come through and lift both of those a little tonight, but the way the D-rays have been beating on the Red Sox lately, I'm not going to get my hopes up.

One thing you can never change

Work today is slow, as it usually is in the first week of the month, and this is bad, because it leaves me with entirely too much time on my hands. Usually I'd take care of that problem by surfing the internet and catching up on what's going on in the world, but this morning I just don't give a rabid rat's ass. I've been in an odd mood since last night (which was completely unproductive except for washing most of the dishes and my stockings) and can't really put my finger on what's bothering me. Part of it may be just low energy, maybe due to a low-grade fever; part of it is the awareness that I have entirely too many things that need to be done before Convergence and neither time nor money to get even half of them done.

This is probably not the ideal mindset to be heading into Convergence with, but it can't be helped.

Clearing the decks

Did laundry and ejected garbage tonight, and drove over to the Sheraton to talk with michaellee or thaadd about taking care of whatever needed taking care of tonight...was also hoping to pick up my badge, but got there too late for that. Which is okay; I can get it tomorrow just as easily, I suppose.

More garbage goes out in the morning after I pack for the weekend. I think if I'm careful I can manage with just the computer bag and my suitcase. The new nose hose is much smaller than its predecessor and ought to fit just fine in the suitcase with all my clothes to pad it.
