Get the message

Observing May Day

First, I put on my blue shirt.

Then, keeping in mind the Great American Boycott, I went to work, hit the Barnes & Noble (where I kicked the economy along for another $25 by buying Eric Flint & Virginia DeMarce's 1634:The Ram Rebellion) and then bought lunch. Include me out, illegales.

I also took the time to read through this remembrance of how the kind of socialism these people are always hollering about actually worked out.

Currently reading (aside from the new Flint/DeMarce novel): The Last Full Measure by Richard Moe, The Mystery of Olga Chekhova by Anthony Beevor, and Wings of Fire by Dale Brown.

A different start to the season

Well, with the first month of the season gone by, I'm doing better than the Twins, but that's not saying a whole heck of a lot. Unlike the Twins, who as Aaron Gleeman notes, combine a punchless offense with awful pitching and mediocre defense, I've got a decent offense and a good bullpen - but the starting pitching is really bad.
