Boss Coffee

Things I'm thankful for

Not necessarily in order of importance...

Modern medicine. Without antibiotics and the various medications that I take to pump up my pancreas and help flush the excess sugar out of my blood, I would have been crippled or dead years ago.

Friends. I've been blessed with some extraordinary and loyal friends who have helped me get through some of the worst times in my life. We've also shared some great times, and I hope to have a lot more with them in the years to come.

My children. Smart, reasonably good looking, well behaved and a pleasure to be around most of the time - well, that's what other people tell me. ^^ Seriously, considering all the craziness that went on while they were growing up, they've turned out pretty well - and they're still young, so who knows what they'll accomplish? Obviously the ex and I did something right besides donate the requisite DNA.

My country. Seriously. It doesn't get any better than los Estados Unidos. People are literally dying to get here, because this is the best country in the world. We've been blessed with beautiful and fertile land, abundant resources, an incredible mix of people from all over the world, and a political system that for the most part lets us do what we wanna without having to kill each other off in droves. You have to believe that Somebody is looking out for us.

My family. I am immensely proud of my parents and the families they come from. Hard working Spanish, crypto-Jews, Irish and Canadians, they made me what I am today by giving me the raw physical materials to start with and an example to live up to.

These are the things I'm thinking about today as I give thanks.
