Changing routines

It's been really difficult getting the stockings on in the morning, and I think part of the problem is that there's enough of a lag between the time I'm in the compression sleeves in the morning and the time I get dressed and pull the stockings on for my legs to swell back up. So this morning I've gone back to the old old routine which involves getting up and showering first before doing all the other morning stuff. That should work better.

Last night we blew $115 at Cub on groceries, mostly for Thanksgiving but partially for Scott and Melody's pantry, since she's out of checks and lost her debit card and his truck is still in the shop. (He no longer makes dismissive comments about my Kia. ^^) The turkey is a 22-pound Butterball, which means there ought to be breast meat for weeks even with ten people showing up. We also ate dinner at the Java, which is every bit as mediocre as I remember it being. The shawirma may be fresher, but I don't think it tastes as good as the Jerusalem's.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up about this afternoon - for the past couple of years, the chief controller has told everyone at the Evil Banking Neighbor to take off at 1:30 on account of Thanksgiving. Past performance is no guarantee of future returns, though, as they say all the time in the stock prospectuses, so I'm assuming I'll have to come back to work after my afternoon appointment. We'll see how it goes.

UPDATE: They're letting us go at 3, which since I took a short lunch means I don't have to come back here until Friday. All praise to the Corporate Controller! ^^
The General

I am so jealous!

Then again, seeing the Convergence Post-Mortem/Progress Report in the mailbox this morning reminded me that we at Anime Detour have a ways to go before we catch up with Connie and her minions, and not just in the attendance department. It gives us something to work towards. All we need to do is find an artist as good as Chris Jones to shanghai recruit onto staff and a couple of photographers (we already have the stud graphics designer) and we, too, can produce something that looks this cool! Without all the typos, of course. [/snark] ^_^

Seriously, this is the kind of thing we need to be doing, even if it's only a PDF file sent via e-mail. It would help if we were doing all the other social stuff that MISFITS does, too...but all that comes with time and the people to do it. I suspect we do have the people in the membership doing these things already and it's just a matter of getting the word out to people. The forum is not enough, and neither is the LJ community.
