GVDL quotes somebody going off on the "information superhighway" metaphor in a new and extremely disturbing way. Not sure I like the characterization of AOL and its users, having been one since 1994 (and earlier), but it's not my rant.
You have to admit, it would make one hell of a game for the XBox 360.
Ah, this weekend is going to suck, and no mistake. First of all, the high temperature is going to be about 95, and this means that the AC units at the apartment (which have not even been keeping up with the 90-degree highs, thanks to the lack of maintenance) are probably just going to crap out completely. So I think after I'm done with my laundry Saturday morning, I'm going to go hang out at the local library and do some reading & writing. After that, I'll find someplace else to hang, because I don't expect the apartment to be even remotely habitable until about 8-10 PM after the sun goes down. Goddamn management. $800/month for a two-bedroom sweatpit. Well, August will be here soon enough, and then we'll be out of there.
In the meantime, I need to draft a little letter to the management reminding them of the penalties for illegal seizure and the laws regarding disposal of tenants' property. Phrases like "punitive damages" and "reasonable settlement" will be prominently featured. Hopefully they'll be sensible and make good our losses and we won't have to slug this out in court.
Well, I have zero enthusiasm for hanging around the apartment this eveing, even though I seem to have tweaked the AC into some weak form of obedience...maybe the problem was that I had the exhaust closed? I dunno. Anyway, it's still a long ways from the temperature I want in here, so I'm going to go get myself around some salad and hang out until the Harry Potter release at the EP B&N.
