Calm before the storm

Perhaps I've reached a point at which I'm simply too tired to get upset about things, but it's more likely that I'm actually locked in and ready to make things happen this weekend without getting all stressed out. I sent an e-mail to the AD staff last night encouraging them to chill out, relax, and take a little time for themselves to relax and dump the stress before the weekend. Oddly enough, it seems that people are following my advice. (Ph33r my l337 chairman p0w3rz! ^^) That's a good thing. If our worst-case projections come true and we get another 900+ people at the door, everybody needs to be ready to play at the top of their game, and you can't do that if you're short on sleep and stressed out over what might happen this weekend.

The insurance flap is settled, as I knew it would be, and we are back on track. We are stronger than last year, better prepared, and ready for this weekend in a way that we couldn't even imagine being last year. I don't want to get carried away on a manic wave of optimism, but I feel good.

Speaking of shooting yourself in the foot...

mesmericone stirred up a bit of controversy when she questioned the competence of those involved in con-spiracy, given the horrible job those people did on the Marscon consuite.

As for lsanderson, he's in no position to talk smack to anybody involved with Marscon. Come back and talk to us sometime when you have a successful con on your resume, Larry.
