One Tuesday, with twisted foot

Got home from work last night, ate lightly and proceeded to whack on the backlog of e-mail as well as throwing stuff up on eBay. Arcana is coming all too soon, and I need to build up some cash reserves for that. Went to bed fairly early but could not get to sleep; wound up watching Read or Die, writing a short chunk of stuff that goes in the second part of Blood Red Skies, and eventually getting to sleep around 0100.

Slept in until 7 this morning since I had a podiatry appointment this morning in St. Paul. I really should have gotten up sooner, but I was feeling ooky and tired and it just got worse. Even breakfast at the St. Clair Broiler didn't help. Stuffy head, achy joints, and a sore throat up behind the mouth and nose where the lozenges can't reach it. Tea and vitamins seem to be helping, but I'm still going to go home and crash after stopping to pick up some chicken soup and other staples of life.

The long view

I don't agree with Eric Raymond about everything, God knows, but this post on the MSM is very much worth reading. He looks beyond the recent thrashing of CBS and the New York Times to discuss the long-term changes in society that have robbed the media of the influence they once had.

Also worth reading is Cobb's post on the return of feudalism. He thinks it's a good thing, and I'm not sure I disagree with him.
