Help wanted

FGSFDS - Technoviking
Who: You, if you are reasonably able-bodied and in the DC area between December 1 and December 7.
What: Moving party
Where: My place
When: Saturday, December 1 through Friday, December 7
Why:

Well, the short version is that after almost five years here, Foxchase management has decided that my housekeeping doesn't met their standards, and they're giving me the bum's rush. I'll be looking for a new apartment (preferably in Alexandria ) next week and hope to have one nailed down in time for the party, otherwise I'll be putting all my stuff in storage and seeing what the VA does for homeless vets. In the meantime, I'll be boxing up all my books, DVDs, games and spare clothes while chucking out all the old, useless, outgrown and/or nonfunctional stuff that's piled up around here since I moved in back in 2007.

Unfortunately, I have little to offer besides toil, tears and sweat, as I'll be donating blood on Monday. :)
This will mostly be you kind and generous folks planting an ob on me for future lifting and carrying of stuff.

If you're not in the area but still want to help, please consider throwing a couple of bucks into the Box & Tape fund.
There aren't as many bookstores as there used to be, so getting hold of book boxes will be more difficult, and I expect I'll probably have to buy some from Uline or someone like them.

Yeah...it's not like they haven't had maintenance people in and out of here all this time, to say nothing of cleaning people who sweep my "deck" and can clearly see the state of my living room. *sigh*

I do have the consolation that I'm being forced to move now, instead of the beginning of April, which is during the end-of-tax season crush.

For Moving Boxes...
Try your local Supermarket's produce section - ask them to hold some boxes for you. Banana boxes are best - even though they have a hole in the bottom a flat book solves that, and they're strong w/ handles. Since they move tons of bananas if you call in advance you can have a bunch waiting for you when you arrive.

Re: For Moving Boxes...
I also have Costco as a resource for this.
